The Voice of Art

I received a phone call, out of the blue, today from an individual from Montreal, Canada, who this summer purchased one of my etchings I created in the 1980’s. A Triptych called “Stillness”. He went online researching my name and found quite a bit of information about my bronze sculptures, but nothing concerning my printmaking…I must admit that it has been a long time since I last worked in the medium.

He was curious as to the technique, the paper it was printed on and why I am not working any longer in the field. I was totally surprised and delighted by our conversation; after an artwork sells and years pass an artist rarely knows who or where it might reside. It has been over twenty years since I last worked in the field and at this point a fond memory; my sculpture is my passion, my printmaking years were an exploration of technique and styles.

Curious he asked why I have no mention or show any of my etchings on my website, and made a recommendation that I have a separate section on my website for my etchings. I still have work in my possession, but have not shown since I stopped working in the medium.

We speak of how it is such a small world, but in reality there are hundreds of thousands of artists, all working and trying to become known and acknowledged..…this for me was acknowledgement that my etchings are still being bought and sold …. and appreciated~
